We are here to be a part of movement.

We are not here to solve, eradicate or fix and also WE ARE HERE to be a part of what is happening towards those very aspirations. We are here NOW for a world that young people inherit, that we inherited. WE ARE HERE to care for what we have been given.

 

THE HUMAN ROOT is here to be a part of the movement towards HEALING for HUMANITY through JUSTICE. It cannot be denied that the complications of race and class formation and the misuse of power, as socially constructed characters of society, are instruments in personal development experienced greatly through the school and work experience.

As environments with tools, advocates, resources and adults who influence character development and personal identity, schooling and work are conditioning systems in American culture that can assume responsibility and have exponential impact with its involvement in developing the world we offer to our young people. Our vision maintains the following principles.

  • HUMANITY

    We inspire co-creating revolutionary acts of humanity by the moment. Through individual and collective decisions in empathy and action we curate transformative change.

  • HEALING

    We envision affirmed communities acknowledging harm and nurturing the continued developing story of change and healing in resistance to racialized trauma.

  • JUSTICE

    We believe in the abolition of institutional systems and protocols which further oppress groups that have been historically marginalized.

OUR MISSION

THE HUMAN ROOT (THR) is a Black Woman-Owned and POCI-led grassroots company supporting transformative changes that address bias’ and -isms in communities and institutions across the country. By offering trauma-informed professional development training, consultation, and in-depth partnerships with communities educators, and families we support shifting cultures towards healing and liberation. 

THE HUMAN ROOT is committed to nurturing the continued developing story of change and healing while journeying through the white supremacist ideology sewn into the lives we live while exploiting people of color and the spaces they fill. To stay true to the integrity of our mission we focus our energy on people and organizations that show a will to fostering, cultivating and preserving a culture of commitment to action and liberation.

THE HUMAN ROOT inspires work with people desiring to pivot from old and harmful ways of practicing power by organizing and centering spaces with deep-humanity, accountability, long-term strategy and ACTION. We organize to support taking into account the inalienable and inborn rights of all human beings, the right of all people and individuals to equal protection before the law of their civil rights, without discrimination on the basis bias’ and -isms. We work with institutions and organizations involved in the breath and life of the economy, those engaged in our neighborhoods and impacting our families. We are THE HUMAN ROOT.
